Parking rules may vary between blocks, parking lots, and waterfront areas.

Visitors are encouraged to check signage before leaving their vehicle.

Is all downtown parking now paid parking?

No. Most downtown parking remains free.

Paid parking is currently limited to the Anderson Parkway waterfront parking area. Other downtown areas may have posted time limits, employee permit parking, or free parking depending on location.

Visitors should always check posted signage and parking maps before leaving their vehicle.

See map here (coming soon).

Where is Anderson Parkway?

Anderson parkway is the large parking lot closest to Murial Iverson Watefront Park between Sons of Norway and the Loft.

See map here (coming soon).

How do I pay for parking in Anderson Parkway?

Payment instructions are posted within the Anderson Parkway paid parking area and may include:

  • Mobile payment applications
  • QR code payment options
  • Other posted payment methods

Please follow the instructions posted within the parking area.

Where is paid parking located?

Paid parking is currently limited to the Anderson Parkway parking area.

Paid parking hours are:

  • 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday through Monday
  • No paid parking on Tuesdays or Federal Holidays

Payment requirements apply only within designated paid parking areas and during posted enforcement hours.

Are there still free parking areas downtown?

Yes. Many parking areas throughout downtown remain free.

Some areas are:

  • Free with no time limits
  • Free with posted time limits (see map)
  • Employee permit parking only (see map)

Parking regulations vary by location, so visitors should always review posted signs and parking maps carefully.

What are time-limited parking areas?

Many downtown streets and parking lots outside of Anderson Parkway include posted time limits intended to improve parking turnover and customer access near businesses.

Time limits vary by location. Please review posted signage carefully.

Vehicles parked beyond the posted time limit may receive a citation.

Can downtown employees park in customer parking areas all day?

Employees are encouraged to use designated employee parking areas rather than high-demand customer parking spaces.

The goal is to improve parking availability for visitors and customers while still providing parking opportunities for employees.

How does employee parking work?

The City has designated certain parking areas for downtown employees with valid permits.

These areas are intended to support longer-duration parking needs while preserving short-term customer parking near businesses and the waterfront.

Employees should:

  • Park only in designated employee parking areas (see map)
  • Display permits or register vehicles as required
  • Follow all posted restrictions and enforcement hours

Parking in employee-designated areas without authorization may result in penalties.

What if I want to grab a coffee and donut at 8am?

If you go downtown between 6:01pm and 9:59am you do not need to pay to park. Enjoy the morning stroll and coffee but be sure to move or pay before 10am.

Why are we doing this?

Over the years, downtown Poulsbo has grown as a regional destination for dining, shopping, and waterfront activities. At the same time, more employees and residents are parking long-term in customer spaces. The result has been limited turnover in key areas, making it harder for visitors to find parking. Implementing enforcement ensures fair use of shared parking and supports local businesses by keeping customer stalls available.  For more on what led the city council to this decision, visit the Poulsbo Planning and Economic Development Department’s – Parking Implementation Page or the Downtown Parking Advisory Committee Page.

What happens if I park in an hourly zone for too long?

You will get a citation. Citations can be paid online at www.poulsbomunipayments.com, in person, or by mail to the Poulsbo Municipal Court 200 NE Moe St, Poulsbo, WA 98370. Instructions are on the back of every citation issued.

Violation fine: $60 – exceeding posted time limits
$250 – parking in employee-only spaces without authorization, or for parking in commercial loading zones or bus zones
Are ADA placards exempt from parking time limits?

Vehicles displaying valid ADA placards or plates may qualify for exemptions from certain time limits as allowed under Washington State law.

However, ADA exemptions do not allow parking in:

  • Fire lanes
  • Loading zones
  • No parking zones
  • Other prohibited or unsafe areas

Please review posted signage carefully.

Will the downtown parking program change over time?

Possibly. The City will continue evaluating parking utilization, business feedback, seasonal demand, and overall program performance.

Parking regulations, enforcement strategies, maps, and parking areas may be adjusted over time based on operational experience and community needs.
